Repair Work

Things always need fixing and repair. Now that I sew, I can do that. :)

The Vellux blanket on our bed had got ripped mysteriously one day (I think it got caught on the bedframe when the dogs were wrestling on it -- nobody saw it happen), and got a big, ragged rip in one corner. I zig-zagged over it, and voila: an inelegant, yet practical repair.

My drover coat has been to Hell and back on me. Originally purchased in Chicago, back in 1996, I've worn it nearly continuously since then. As of this writing, that's been 7 years. It owes me nothing. Consequently, it's ripped and torn and worn through in spots. I've recently started a project to repair the worst of the damage so that my old, faithful coat can get me through another few years before it's replaced.

Update: The drover coat is a lost cause. After getting further into it, it turns out that the fabric is so weak, it can barely hold itself together. So it's officially retired.

Pictures coming soon.
