MuseUrth is a campaign world that I'm creating. It's mostly a generic world. That is, the material presented here will be usable with pretty much any system. I haven't decided, yet, what system I'm going to use to run it, but the material won't change, regardless.
MuseUrth is a world set inside a computer. Nothing stupid and Reboot-y, with geometric shapes and stuff. We're talking about a sophisticated computer. The citizens of the world, for the most part, don't even know that this is the case. From their point of view, they live in a heroic fantasy world, with all the trappings.
In MuseUrth, the gods are the users, mages are those citizens able to construct new programs, and the source code is available to the world at large!
What I put up here is free. It's mostly a service to my players, but if other GMs and players find useful information here, by all means, grab it, use it, twist it, whatever. If you make money off of it, I'd like a cut, but other than that, do whatever you'd like. It's a labor of love, mostly. <shrug>
I'm going to run this campaign starting in May('97), because that's when I'm going to have time. Our campaign is running in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, so if anybody in the area wants to join in, or find a gaming group, or is just interested in gaming in general, give me a call (my number's on this page...), send me an email, or just drop by. We're always interested in talking to new players.
Ok. Will do. I always like to babble in streams of consciousness. Material should start appearing here fairly soon. I'm going to do all of my world development for MuseUrth in LaTeX, the freely available typesetting language. There are a couple of advantages to this. First, there are many freely available converters to convert LaTeX to HTML, for easy posting here. Plus, LaTeX is a rich and powerful typesetting language that has all sorts of cool and exciting features, and is fully programmable, and extensible, and all that good stuff. Plus I just recently learned it, so I'm interested in learning more. Finally, the LaTeX source files are readable by humans, and so it acts like raw text, for all intents and purposes.
Plus, since LaTeX is freely available on every platform under the sun, I don't feel badly about making documents available in this format. You will be able to view it. Trust me. :)
